It struck me when I first started designing jewellery, that an egg was the perfect shape for a ring, even the yolk is perfectly positioned to represent the void for the finger. I have been charmed by all sorts of birds eggs since a child growing up in New Zealand. The Observers Book of Eggs I inherited is still one of my favourites, along with Fields book of Birds.
